Product Code: UNSHOCK

Application

WHAT IT IS
The unshock is really a friction relief system. Yes, we know in reality it is a flat needle bearing, but because it takes all  the sideways twisting friction out of the suspension spring, it is really a friction relief system. It is a flat needle bearing with hardened steel races on both sides of the bearing, that fits betweeen one side of your shock/fork spring, and it's fixed mating surface.

WHY IT WORKS
It works, because it relieves one of the undesired forces automatically inhierant in your suspension. This is the twisting force, induced by the screw shape of the spring. Suspension is suppose to go up and down. The shape of the spring, automatically requires it to go up and down, but because of the winding shape of the spring, also twist, in the direction the spring is wound. This retards easy up and down movement, binding and slowing suspension action, especially during the first 3" of movement. This is ironic, since this is where you want it to be most supple and responsive.
Luckily, with the unshock letting the spring move freely on one end, the twisting motion of the spring is taken away from the suspension action. This results in the spring moving much more freely during initial travel, which lets the actual shock and it's valving do it's job of keeping your wheels in contact with the ground.
Also, luckily, whether your suspension is stock, or ha been re-valved by the best in the biz, the unshock system will help it work better.

WHAT IT WILL DO FOR YOU
The main thing you will notice, and this is the feedback from 10 out of 10 testers, whether on a motocross track or in the off road rocks, is that the rear end, and the bike track much straighter. The rear end doesn't get out of control, side to side, like it does without the unshock.
On motocross tracks, the biggest change is in and out of corners, where braking and acceleration bumps occur. You can brake later into the corners and then accelerate sooner and straighter coming out. This is how motorcross races are won.
In desert racing, the main advantage is sharp edge bumps and rocks. The unshock keeps the rear end from jumping out to the side, which will start the side to side swap and highside action. It also keeps the high speed, unexpected pitch over the bars under control much more. In a nutshell, you can work on Monday.
For GNCC and woods, it keeps the rear end and front end under control over the roots. Those stupid roots at a sideways angle are the worst, but the bike is noticeably more in control with the unshock in place. And with the unshock, especially in the forks, you'll be able to still move your wrists after the race.

Works really well May 26, 2008
Reviewer: Todd from Chino Hills, CA United States
I put this on a Honda CRF250X and it works as described.  The rear is plush and doesn't move side to side.  Works great on rough trails and high speed whoops.  I'll buy these for the front too when or if they become available.  For $50 its really money well spent.  Note they mount on the bottom of the Honda shock spring, unlike images for KTM's that I had seen.

Unshock March 17, 2008

This made a really big difference in the compliance of my shock for fast, desert terrain.   I wouldn't ride a stock 505XC without it.  No reservations.
