THE WORLD'S FASTEST DIRTBIKE

F2racing and Steve Hengeveld went to Bonneville to set a land speed record. The old record was 120.553. WE BEAT IT! The bike, built by Dave Simon and ridden by Steve Hengeveld, went 123.465 on the return run.

"We actually did pretty good for a first attempt knowing how bad the salt conditions were this year. The bikes were timed between the 2nd and 3rd mile, where the salt was really slushy. You knew this, because we actually entered the timing miles 3 miles an hour faster than at the end where the speeds were taken. So considering we were up to 123 on the return run, I'm happy. The slower first run was due to a head wind and the jetting being way too rich. We were sent onto the course at 8 in the morning when the temp was 70 deg, which is what I had jetted the carb for. However, due to problems with the running of the streamliners, we didn't get to run until 10:30, at a temp of 78. I leaned the carb out for the return run."

F2racing and Steve Hengeveld Are going to Bonneville this September to set a land speed record. The Present record is 120.553 The testing we have done has been faster than that.

WE DID IT! On Tuesday We went 121mph at 9600rpm with a slight head wind at 6000ft! The current world record for the class that we will be running in is 120.553mph. The development of the F2 Fastcap was very important to this process considering we gained 6 miles per hour with just this one change. Stay tuned!!!!!!

Steve Hengeveld and F2 will make a land speed record attempt at Bonneville this September on a Honda CRF450R. It will definitely be the world's fastest dirt bike, but should also set the FIM and AMA records as well.
We are looking to go 150 mph on a bike that I could just change gearing on, and race a BITD event on the next day. F2 has a lot of forward thinking ideas and we want to showcase them and learn for the future to develop better products for people.
A lightweight battery has been fitted under the custom skid plate to power the test equipment. There is an air/fuel monitor, GPS, and temperature monitoring equipment.
Street tires are used to deal with the speed, as well as cut down on rolling resistance.

Then the real testing begins. Run the bike until we hit the rev limiter. Add gearing until the bike can't pull the gearing through the air. Then we make preliminary adjustments like you see here by removing the radiator shrouds.
At sustained the higher speeds, the bike started to run lean. It was running out of gas. The design of the stock float bowl cap allows fuel to flow away from the center, where the jets are fed.. The F2 Fast-cap is designed to keep the fuel supply constant. The benefit is amazing! At sustained full throttle we were able to pull 800 more RPM and 6 miles per hour top speed with no other modifications.

Cylinder Honing
Price $34.95

The seal between the cylinder wall and the piston rings, is one of the critical factors of the performance of your engine. A really good seal, insures the lowest amount of pressure leakage past the rings, which means a higher power output at all RPM ranges. Just changing the rings, in your modern 4 stroke engine, can and will help the power when broken in right, but correctly honing the cylinder will ensure the piston rings will mate completely with the cylinder wall.
We now offer this service to the public, instead of just to the race engine builders.
